Lens Review: AF 50mm f/1.8 D

Lens Review: Nifty Fifty f/1.8
Thoughts and Opinions:

Great lens. I would stop there but I will expand on that a little however this will be a short review.  The 50mm f/1.8 is an amazing lens.  It is fast glass with f/1.8, it is sharp, it focuses nicely and it is a small and light weight lens.  Can't ask for much more than that.

I loved this lens because it was great for low light areas.  It was nice to have a good large aperture to work with.  With the lens being very small and light weight it is nice for carrying it around all night taking photos at an event.  It wont scare people with the size of the lens.  Also it was easy to fit into a camera bag since it was a small lens.  I have a small space issue right now because I have 3 medium sized lenses.  So the 50mm was nice when I had it because it was nice and small.

For the $150, it is a steal.  Performance for cost is incredible.
Usage:

I no longer own this lens because I sold it to my cousin.

I have used it for events and such along with portraits.  It was a great lens.  No complaints really.  It was also nice to have in a concert because it was very good with the low light venue.

Pros:

- Small
- Light weight
- Inexpensive
- Sharp
- Fast
- Good portrait lens

Cons:

The only issue with this lens was that it wasn't f/1.4.

Conclusions:

The 50mm f/1.8 D is an amazing lens.  It is almost a must have lens.  The only reason it is not a must have lens is if you want the f/1.4 D or G version of the lens.  I personally would suggest owning a 50mm.

Rating: Overall: 4/5

Portrait Lens: 4/5
Low Light Ability: 4/5
Overall: 4/5

Side Note: I did sell my 50mm f/1.8 D as I said. My cousin has her own blog and a lot of her new photos are with the 50mm.  She loves the lens as well.  I will put the link of her blog below here as well as on my link section.
